This weekend we had Mr C’s brother come up from South Wales to stay. The poor lamb was stuck in crawling traffic for around 8 or 9 hours so when he eventually made it to the dales we rewarded his efforts with takeout pizza and little bear cuddles. The best kind of reward.
Weekends are so much more meaningful now that Mr C works Mon-Fri. We definitely get that Friday feeling in this household. And because we’ve not had any time away this summer we know it’s important to make the weekends count. So what do you do when you want to make family time count? You go to a farm is what you do.
Apart from Mr C junior being carsick on the way there (sorry bro, you can drive next time) we had a super day and it didn’t even rain. Go Yorkshire.
If you’re ever in the Skipton area of Yorkshire try and drop in to Hesketh Farm, you’ll love it. There’s all the typical Farm animals you’d expect and a load of incredibly patient guinea pigs that let littlies pick them up when I’m pretty sure they’d rather seek refuge under the hay bales. There are toddler tractors, bigger kids’ go-karts, an outdoor play park and so much more. My firm favourite are the adorable albeit slightly frisky tortoises that wander around (I wanted to take a video of them but Mr C said it’s not appropriate to film animal porn).
They have a small café that serves hot drinks, sandwiches and cake, and plenty of picnic benches around.
Farmer Chris is Fantastic, always around and happy to chat about the farm. Oh and he takes you on the best tractor rides. A brilliant time was had by all and before we knew it, it was time to head over to Billy Bobs, but that’s for a whole other post.
